Pier 2 Pier – what a perfect day!

This year saw our now well established Pier 2 Pier race selling out well before the day. The sun shone, the sea glistened and runners smiled from South Shields to Roker.

It was lovely to see Wendy Chapman bag her first ‘first’ lady win in our own race in a time of 46:46. Lyne Valentine was first FV60 – no surprise there then!

Andrew Forbes was first Stroller home, 16th overall, in 42:45, closely followed by Chris Dwyer. There was some great running throughout the field, with many beginners competing in their first ever race.

Support was provided along the course, at the start and at the end by an army of marshals, mostly Strollers but with some other lovely folk stepping in to help too. There was also all of the work from the organisers, especially HH, which made the day possible. Thanks to each and every one of you.

A fabulous day, a fantastic atmosphere and a simply brilliant running club!
