Sunshine and Smiles!

It was a hot weekend, very hot indeed, but still the Strollers turned out to melt. The ‘biggie’ for the weekend was Pieces of 8, a Trail Outlaws event. It’s a brilliant run and, once again, we had a good turnout. I admit I can’t find the results but we had some good finishing. Peter Myerscough, Malcolm Cox and Lyne Valentine showed the young ‘uns how to bag the bling, each winning their age categories. Andrew Forbes skipped in as first Stroller (just look at the photo!) with John Cook adding to his weekend miles to be second Stroller and Chris Dwyer third. Running that race in those temperatures was no mean feat so a mahoosive well done to each and every one who ran.

Mike Hobson opted for a flat 10k at Newton Ayecliffe, again battling the heat. Sub 40, not a PB – he was chasing Sub 38 – but a darned good time with the sun blazing as it was.

Weetslade relays were held last night. I’ve been told it was:

“Clammy. Big hill. Strollers were class. Cake. Bosh!”

Our A team shone and came home with amazing prizes which included a fairy candle holder, a book ‘acquired’ from a library and Bingo. Get yourselves there next year – what’s not to love!
