News – 30 Jan

Not much to tell you all this week, hopefully I should have the Pier to Pier posters and banners at the Club tomorrow (31 Jan) so get your thinking caps on for places to display them. Don’t forget that the most original placement (photographic evidence required) wins a bottle of champagne. Entries are going well, we’ve sold over 600 places – don’t forget that the ‘early bird’ deal ends tomorrow, entry fees go up by £2. New for 2018 will be the ‘Beach Mile’ prizes which will be awarded to the first male and female off the beach at South Shields …. who complete the race. We’re currently looking for a sponsor for these prizes so if you know of anyone put them in touch with me.

Easy Fundraising

This is a great way for the Club to generate funds without doing a thing. There are a whole load of online traders who will pass up to 6% of transactions to a designated charity. They provide widgets for PC’s, tablets & phones that automatically drive your purchase through their registration, all you have to do is spend the money that you were going to spend anyway. Currently only 60 Strollers are registered but they’ve raised over £500, just think how much we could raise if more than half of the Club were registered. Here’s the link to find out more, get registered and get raising money for the Club – www.easyfundraising.org.uk/invite/47L9G0/3CXNII – use this link and the Club get £4 before you’ve even spent a penny!!

parkrun

Thanks for the tremendous support of Sunderland parkrun last weekend when we provided over 30 volunteers in the various roles and as pacers. We had loads of our new beginners out surprising themselves that they could run 5K. This weekend (and on the first weekend of every month) they will be collecting for Sunderland Foodbank, the foodbank is currently in need of Tinned fruit (400g), Teabags (80’s), Dried pasta (500g), UHT milk (1ltr), Breakfast cereals BUT NOT Beans!!
