Some long ones!

The past weekend, once again, was hectic. Nearest home was the SandDancer 10k. Five Strollers went along the coast for this one – Chris Tynemouth was first Stroller in 43:30 with Gilbo getting her racing shoes back on to finish close behind him in 44:03.

Pete Sissons undertook the very challenging 3 Peaks, completing in 4:55. To quote Pete, this was a bad day at the office. However, following the other recent races he has smashed, we all think he did fab; to be fair, sub 5 is the goal of many a fine runner.

Strollers were well represented at the Hardmoors marathon and 10k. These ever popular races are not easy options but they are excellent events – well done to Jill, Catherine, Peter, Jo, Joanne, John, Clare and to Ray Maynard who was 2nd really old fella!

The Derwentwater Dawdle is next up. Dawdle! Do not be fooled. It was a tough 23 miles, more if you got lost, with some gruelling climbs. Seven Strollers set off and seven Strollers returned! Ash Bennett was First Lady, running a brilliant race, and Auld Ken was third – not third auldie but third in the whole field! Excellent running from both. Well done to Neil, Kev, FGT, Lesley and Trish too.

Last for this week, the awesome first place achieved by Jon Davies in the Tyne Trail Ultra. Jon raced 140km in 15:59:01. Well done Jon, that’s damn good going. Congratulations!

Louise Arnison has also done the gruelling Fellsman but that shall be covered next week when we have more details!
