Clazey’s Doorstep Marathon, Half Marathon & 10K – 2 Dec 2018

UPDATE

Huge thanks to all who turned out yesterday to run or support the Doorstep Events, I think we had around 180 runners, hope you all had a great time and that the bacon butties were appreciated afterwards. For those who had to depart before we’d totted up the figures we managed to raise £3600 which will be split equally between the 3 charities (Phoenix Cancer Unit, Cancer Research UK and Macmillan Cancer Support). There are loads of photos here, please feel free to share, thanks to Ian Tate. See you all next year!!

Sunderland Strollers are proud, once again, to present the Clazey’s Doorstep Events for 2018. The event will take place on Sunday the 2nd of December. For the second time we’ll be providing a Marathon, Half Marathon and 10K run to try and get as many people participating as possible. The events are not races but social runs which will demonstrate the capacity of running to generate substantial funds and provide a great day. On completion of your event you’ll be presented with a t-shirt along with a breakfast sandwich plus tea/coffee. For those aspiring to be true athletes, the bar will be open.

There are changing/shower facilities at the Yacht Club, you can also leave bags etc in a secure environment.

Please meet at the Sunderland Yacht Club at 0800 for the Marathon start, 0945 for the Half Marathon start and 1045 for the 10K start.  Water will be provided around the route (marathon and half marathon only), if you want gels or anything else please hand them to the marshals at the start and they will drop them ahead at the feed stations.

Please note that NO Half Marathon runners will be permitted to start with the Marathon runners.

The event is organised primarily to raise money for charity, this year we will be splitting the proceeds between Phoenix Cancer Unit at Sunderland Royal Hospital, Cancer Research UK and Macmillan Cancer Support. It’s also about getting people from all Clubs and no Clubs enjoying a Sunday morning run and raising a load of cash in the process.

This year we’re selling sponsorship space on the back of the t-shirts, for just £200 your company name/logo will appear on around 200 tech running t-shirts. We are grateful to Peter Dunn & Co, Lofthouse & Partners, PGSLaw, Franklin Steel, Barnets Barbers and BGL Group for getting on board and ensuring even more cash goes to the charities. We need to know by 14 Nov if you want to sponsor to ensure that we have enough time to print the t-shirts.

Do please come and join us, over a beer we may even explain the origins of the event and why it means so much to the Club.

Entries are open here.

2nd year I’ve done the half and even the weather can’t dampen the spirit of this event. What a wonderful run and a great club. See you next year z

Thanks for your support, it was a bit of a shame that the weather wasn’t the best but we raised more money this year, £3600 being split between the 3 charities. Hope to see you again next year, it’ll be the first weekend in December once again.
