Strollers Absolutely Everywhere!
To say it’s been a busy racing weekend is an understatement. The ‘biggie’ was Manchester Marathon. This was a race targeted by many of our club, including a big handful of our newer members who challenged themselves to run their first marathon. The results show we have a massive range of runners – all ages and all paces! Chris Dwyer was first Stroller home. Chris was hoping for sub 3 and he smashed it, completing in 2:53:15; an awesome time firmly placing him in the sub 3 club. Ritchie Gerry was close behind – already in the sub 3 club, Ritchie ran another PB and was 5th in his age category in 2:53:28. Boys, we salute you, amazing times!
Numerous other Manchester marathoners also hit great times, several of these getting PBs too. Our first timers were great and each and every one completed the distance. They worked hard to achieve this, last year several of them were our beginners – wear those medals with pride!
Blyth 10k was a good medal haul for us! Dawn Elliott was 1st FV55, Lyne Valentine was 2nd V60 and Derek Wright was 2nd V65. First Stroller home, and 33rd overall, was Luke McCormack in a PB of 36:55 – you’re flying Luke, cracking running!
Thirsk 10k is next on the list. Alan, Sue, Andrew and Brian sported Stroller vests for this one – well done guys.
Julie Jeffrey headed to Druridge Bay half to show a Stroller vest in that one. As she said, first Stroller home, gotta be in it to win it 🙂
Clare Bahari ran a ‘hot and hilly’ Ibiza marathon in sub 4. Well done, Clare, lovely to see you back out there!
Germany was our international destination, a sociable trip, instigated by Steve Hobday, with a run thrown in. In the words of Jill Sardine, ‘net downhill, scary ups, in a cooker, 25 degrees’. I’m sure they cooled themselves down and rehydrated well before, during and after the run! Well done guys, hope you had fun!
Busy weekend, not the space to mention everyone but a HUGE well done to each and every one of you who has got out there and ran!
