Relays and Woody’s!

No mud on Saturday! Instead, we saw a good turn out to run relays around the lake at Hetton Lyons Country Park. It was great to see some of our newer Strollers turn out for the club and experience the team spirit that prevails at these events. Aly Dixon was the fastest lady in 11:53 – according to the results which hiccuped several times! She was also in the silver medal team along with Gillian Ritchie, Vanessa Bennett and Lyne Valentine.

Mark Anderson was speediest male Stroller in 12:01. Our V50 vet team just missed out on a podium place, running into 4th position – valiant effort Ritchie, Bill, Paul and Gavin.

However, it was back to the mud on Sunday! The first club championship race took place down in Castletown Dene, a glorious setting for Woody’s 5k. Forty six runners completed the run and I’m sure all would agree that FGT created a cracker of a route with weather to match. Andrew Forbes, who ran 12:03 at the relays, was placed first. Massive thanks to all who organised and marshalled. A lovely time was had by all.
