Many More Marathons.
Before we get to the marathons, a quick round up of Druridge Bay XC. In spite of initial worries that most would be racing elsewhere, both ladies and mens teams did tremendously well. The girls are now 3rd in their division. Wendy Chapman had another great run and was 1st counter and will be moving up the packs. Clare Baharie was next home followed by Hasina Khanom and Michelle Houghton. The fellas are currently 4th in their division. Callum Thom romped home as first Stroller with Luke McCormack next. Ritchie Gerry, Paul Dunlop, Michael Dixon and Ken Maynard completed the counters – our oldies certainly are gold right now!
Kielder weekend was once again a resounding success. John Cook was 2nd overall in the half in 1:23:11; Aly Dixon was first lady in 1:24:38 – tremendous running and photographic evidence suggests they smiled the whole way. Lyne Valentine was 1st V60 – of course!
Chris Dwyer was first Stroller in the marathon in 3:10:20, a cracking time round this course. John Sayer romped home next in another great time of 3:23:45.
Chester was the destination for another band of merry Strollers. First two home, both in super PB times, were Brian Carroll and Gary Dunmore. Brian ran 3:26, Gary 3:29. It really goes to show that training pays off 🙂
Elsewhere, special mention to Gavin Sword who finished 11th in the World Tri Championships in Rotterdam. Well done that man!
