Epcot is a theme park at Walt Disney World Resort featuring exciting attractions, international pavilions, award-winning fireworks and seasonal special events.
The Lakeland 100 is long distance race consisting of a 105 mile loop of the Lakeland fells, including over 6800m of ascent, to be completed in 40 hours. If that sounds a bit much to take in, there is always the option to do the “half”, a distance of 50 miles with almost 3000m of ascent to be completed within 24 hours. Get the full story on the Lakeland 100 site.
Sunderland Strollers have a long association with both events, both as competitors, and manning the 3rd checkpoint on the Lakeland 100 course at 20 miles, aka the “Strollers Disco”.
The next time the event will be held is the weekend of July 29th 2022, and in order for Stroller competitors to familiarise themselves with the course, we will be going on a number of recces around the course. Any Stroller who is thinking about taking part in the future, or just fancies a day out to see what all the fuss is about, is also welcome.
A minibus will be hired for the day which will pick up all runners at Ashbrooke Sports Club. Once in the Lakes at the start of that day’s route, runners will set off, run that leg and then be met by the minibus with supplies at the next checkpoint on the route (shown below). Runners therefore have the opportunity to run as many legs as they like, and jump on the minibus whenever they need to in order to travel to the end of the route or do a later leg.
