Winter Handicap 2019/20

The Strollers Winter Handicap is a 5K chip-timed race for Club members using handicaps set at a scratch race over the same course at the start of the series. Races take place on the second Wednesday of October, November, December, January & February. In the event of bad weather forcing a cancellation we’ll run an additional race in March. First runner home collects 200 points, 2nd place 199 etc etc. The best 3 scores (of 4 races) will count. There is also a team competition with all teams containing at least one female runner.

All races start and finish by Sue’s Cafe on Marine Walk in Roker. The course heads to Grannie Annies, reverses and then goes up the path to the Bungalow Cafe. Turning sharp right it continues along the path heading for Seaburn. Past the Victorian Shelter and carrying on until Fat Buddha’s. Reversing again, the route retraces its steps back to where you started. All being well we have marshals out on the course to (hopefully) make sure no one gets lost. In the event of the illuminations closing the path we run an alternate course to the Wear Bridge along Dame Dorothy Street from the same start/finish location.

All the results and links to revised start times will be posted here throughout the series.
