Cross Country Finale
This week has seen the final XC race. The NEHL had the beautiful Alnwick Castle as a backdrop for this last race and, although there was no escape from the mud, the sun did make a brief appearance. The men had a good turn out with Andrew Forbes the first counter followed by Ken Maynard, Chris Dwyer, Paul Dunlop, Dale And Kevin O’Neill. The ladies were, unfortunately, relegated, but Ashleigh Bennett, along with Pip, Bev and Sheila, were the counters and ran a valiant race!
On Sunday, Aly Dixon earned her curry by finishing second lady at Trafford 10k in a time of 33:43. Well done Aly, great running as always!
Sunday also saw several Strollers at the Haweswater Half; the following race report is from Jill Connolly who ran along with Nicola Carr, Kirsty Wilton and Kevin Doherty.
“It was a lovely morning despite weather warnings predicting high wind and rain. The weather was possibly perfect, even a little too hot. The race, as usual, was very busy and the scenery beautiful. It is typically hilly but there are as many downhills as big climbs, with snow capped mountains ahead of you and the waterfalls and wildlife which are truly beautiful on any day of the week. if you’re looking for an early spring half next year add this one to your list.”
The previous week saw Rob Craig travel down to Cheshire to run Oulton Park 10k. In tough, windy conditions, Rob finished in 56:57, a time he feels reflected the conditions!
