Short and Sweet Ones – and some impressive speed too!

After several reports focusing on trails and hills, we can report on some shorter races and some fine turns of speed!

Aly Dixon recently flew along Newcastle Quayside to be First Lady in the annual Bridges of the Tyne race. A popular race, which is always a sell out, with a fairly flat out and back, saw Aly completing the 5 miles in 27:45. Marvellous going Aly!

Gateshead 10k had Stroller runners and Stroller marshals. Well done to all, it was a humid day and the heat was most likely unwelcome up that last couple of uphill kilometeres. Hopefully, the finish in Gateshead Stadium, ushered in by Stroller marshals, was worth the slog.

Last.y, the fast and furious Sunderland 5k. Nine Strollers achieved sub 20 in this race – sub 20 is a good club to belong to and a special well done to those who achieved membership at the end of this race. Mark Anderson was first Stroller in 16:25. Mark was 35th overall, reflecting the high quality field. The eight other sub 20 crew were, in order of finish: Ray Christie, Andrew Forbes, Chris Dwyer, Callum Thom, Jamie Collin, Andy Duke, Gary Dunmore and Gillian Ritchie. An extra round of applause for those who achieved a PB and a big well done to our latest sub 20 Strollette – get in Gilbo!
